Venga Venga is a restaurant and bar located in Antigua, Guatemala. They are a magical safe space for queer people in Antigua. They host drag shows, tarot readings, tattoo pop-ups and much more. They are staffed by the kindest, most inspiring people. I created a mural for them that illustrates the joy and celebration they are able to create in this space. I conducted interviews with the owners, staff, and locals who live there to make sure the mural truly represented the community. It was a true honor and pleasure to create this mural for a space that brings so much light into people's lives.
Venga Venga es un restaurante y bar ubicado en Antigua, Guatemala. Son un espacio mágico y seguro para las personas LGBT en Antigua. En el espacio tienen eventos de drag, lecturas de tarot, pop-ups de tatuajes y mucho más. Su personal son las personas más amables e inspiradoras. Creé un mural para ellos que ilustra la alegría y celebración que crean en este espacio. Realicé entrevistas con los propietarios, el personal y los locales que viven allí para asegurarme de que el mural realmente representara a la comunidad. Fue un verdadero honor y un placer crear este mural para un espacio que trae tanta luz a las vidas de las personas.
